That’s a great mindset to have! There’s a saying I once heard: ‘If you want some nice shit, find some broken shit and make it good shit.’ It really resonates with me and sheds light on the whole consumer culture we’re immersed in. So many people are quick to spend money on products that could easily be made at home with a bit of effort. Companies are masters at convincing us that we need their expensive, ‘luxurious’ items, when in reality, most of it is basic stuff that we can create ourselves. I really admire your willingness to put in the work and make your home look so fantastic. More people need to see that DIY isn’t just possible—it’s often the better, more fulfilling option. It’s interesting how our parents’ generation grew up knowing how to fix and create so many things, while today’s kids are more likely to just throw something away than try to repair it. That’s exactly the kind of mindset that corporations want us to have, and it’s great that you’re pushing back against it.
